Fordham University Announces Athletic Department Promotions

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University Executive Director of Athletics Frank McLaughlin announced today the promotion of Mary Cunneen to Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities, Jess Powers to Assistant Athletic Director for Tickets and Business Affairs, Scott Kwiatkowski to Associate Sports Information Director and Dave Zippo to Associate Head Athletic Trainer.

Cunneen, who had been serving as the Interim Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Event Management since August, arrived at Fordham in November of 2010 when she assumed the role of Coordinator of Facilities and Event Operations. In that capacity she was responsible for serving as site coordinator for all home athletic events to ensure compliance with both Atlantic 10 and NCAA regulations as well as perform the logistical planning for each event and day-to-day operations.

Prior to coming to Fordham, Cunneen was a Graduate Assistant and Student Worker at St. John's University where she aided in the event planning and management of all athletic events and was the on-site contact for Big East home games. She also facilitated NCAA First Round and Quarterfinal Men's Soccer, WNIT Women's Basketball First Round, Big East Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, NCAA First Round Women's Volleyball.

A 2008 graduate of St. John's University with a degree in Sports Management and a minor in Business, Cunneen also received an MBA in Marketing from the school in 2010.

Powers has been at Fordham since August of 2008 when she assumed the role of Coordinator of Travel and Ticket Operations where she was responsible for all ticket operation issues as well as team travel and assisting with the oversight of the equipment area

Powers came to Rose Hill after serving as the Director of Operations for the Wagner College athletic department from June of 2007, her second shift at her alma mater. She was responsible for game management of all home sports events, including handling the set-up for all athletic events, supervising the student event staff and creating and updating all visiting team guides. Powers also directed the upkeep and maintenance of all outdoor facilities at Wagner as well as assisting in the supervision of the Spiro Sports Center.

A 2003 graduate of Wagner College, Powers received a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in sociology while also earning four letters with the swimming squad and two in water polo. She also earned a Master's degree in Education at Wagner in 2006.

Kwiatkowski is in his tenth year with the Fordham Sports Information Office, previously serving as an Assistant Sports Information Director where he is the primary contact for volleyball, women's soccer, water polo, track & field, swimming & diving, squash, and baseball.

A 2001 Fordham graduate with a degree in Communications & Media Studies, Kwiatkowski was the recipient of the 2008 Jack Coffey Award, which is presented to a Fordham administrator, alumnus, or coach for outstanding contributions and dedication to the athletic program. He also was named the 2010 CWPA Men's Northern Division Water Polo SID of the Year.

Zippo is in his seventh year on the Fordham Sports Medicine staff, serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the first six. He is the assistant athletic trainer for football and head trainer for men's basketball and men's tennis.

Prior to Fordham, Zippo served as an athletic training intern at Iona College since 2002, where he was responsible for prevention, evaluation and rehabilitation of the Gaels' student-athletes.

A 2004 graduate of Dominican College, Zippo received his degree in Athletic Training after graduating from Westchester Community College in 1999 with a degree in Math and Science. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) as well as a New York State Licensed Athletic Trainer.
