Bronx, N.Y. – (May 2, 2025) – Rhode Island's Jeremy Urena allowed one run on three hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts to lead URI to an 8-3 win over the Fordham Rams on Friday night at Houlihan Park.
Rhode Island scored all eight of its runs in the first two innings, netting two unearned runs in the first, while scoring six times in the second. The biggest hit of the six-run rally was a grand slam home run by DJ Perron to put URI up, 8-0. It was his 12
th home run of the season.
Fordham got on the board in the sixth inning, as
Taylor Kirk tripled to left center and scored on a ground out by
Cian Sahler
Fordham tried to mount a rally in the ninth.
Daniel Bucciero got the first run on his own, when he tripled to right center and scored on an errant throw. Fordham then loaded the bases with one out on two walks and a hit by pitch, but only got one more run on a sacrifice fly by
Matt Dieguez for the 8-3 final.
Aidan Dowd (3-5) took the loss, allowing four earned runs on three hits in 1.2 innings of work.
Robbie Stewart came out of the bullpen to throw 4.1 innings of relief, giving up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Andres Perez pitched two scoreless innings with
Ryan Egan tossing a clean inning in the ninth. At the plate, Fordham managed five hits wth Bucciero going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a run scored, while Kirk was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Dieguez and
Madden Ocko had the final hits for the home team.
