Volleyball Falls in Four Sets To Duquesne

Bronx, N.Y. - Duquesne's Jessica Artman notched a match-high 19 kills to go with 12 digs, while Chelsea Tillotson dished out 45 assists, as the Dukes topped the Fordham Rams, 3-1, at the Rose Hill Gym. Final set scores were 25-20, 23-25, 27-25, and 25-22.
With the loss, Fordham is now 10-10 on the season, 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play, while Duquesne improves to 14-6 overall, 3-2 in the conference.
With the match knotted at one set apiece, the third set was tied at 25 following a kill by Fordham's Jenna Hart. Duquesne though got a kill from Jessica Artman and a block by Liz Homan and Brittany Poling to steal set three by two points.
In set four, Fordham again kept the set close, getting to within 22-20 on a kill by Katie Wells. The Rams however could not get closer than two points, as the Dukes finished the set on a kill by Artman for a three-point win.
For Fordham, Kailee May posted 11 kills, nine digs, and three service aces, while Katie Wells added 11 kills and five blocks. Katherine Burrell posted a double-double with 41 assists and 16 digs to go with four kills, with Jenna Hart and Sara Friede having nine and eight kills, respectively.
The Fordham volleyball team will next be in action on Saturday, October 11th, as they host the Saint Louis Billikens for an Atlantic 10 match, starting 1:00 PM in the Rose Hill Gym.
