Track & Field Posts 13 Top 3 Finishes at the FDU Knight Classic

Teaneck, N.J. - The other part of Fordham's track & field split squad was at the FDU Knight Classic, held in Teaneck, New Jersey on Saturday. The Rams finished the day with 13 top three finishers which included six event wins.
Leading the charge for the Rams was Frank Massaro, who won the 200 meter dash in 24.15 seconds and placed third in the 100 meter dash in 12.05 seconds. He was also a part of the winning 4x100 relay, which posted a time of 45.69 seconds.
Fordham's other men's relay also won, as the 4x400 team took first in 3:34.21.
The remaining event winner on the men's side was Daniel Clemeens, who captured the 400 meter hurdles event in 59.92 seconds. He also placed fifth in the 110 meter hurdles in 18.38 seconds.
Other top performers were Sam Stuart, who took third in the 1500 meter run (4:10.80) and fourth in the 800 meter run (2:01.71), Devin Kelly, who was third in the 5,000 meter run (15:51.17), Brian Walter, who was fifth in the 1500 meter run (4:12.42) and sixth in the 800 meters (2:02.88), John Byrne, who was fourth in the 200 meter dash (24.76) and seventh in the 400 meters (53.25).
In the field events, Austin Ruiz had the best day, taking fourth in the shot put (41' 6 ¾"), fifth in the hammer throw (121' 4") and sixth in the discus throw (110' 9").
Fordham's other win in the women's competition came in the 4x400 relay, which took first in 4:26.93.
Other top performers were Courtnay Newman, who finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (18.04) and the javelin throw (106' 11"), as well as Christina Vivivnetto and Kerry Sorenson, who were fourth (5:13.24) and fifth (5:14.47), respectively, in the 1500 meter run.
The Fordham track & Field team will next be in action on April 6-7, when the team competes at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Virginia.
