Melissa Inouye begins her first year at Fordham in 2011-2012. She comes to Rose Hill after spending the past four seasons at Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. While at Southern Miss, she oversaw the pitchers & catchers and assisted with the defense and hitting. She had three players earn All-Conference USA accolades and one chosen for the Conference USA All-Freshman team. Prior to her stint with the Golden Eagles, Inouye spent three years as an assistant coach at Kentucky. In Lexington, she held down a myriad of responsibilities including recruiting coordinator, outfield coach, compliance liason, co-director of camps and director of the team's booster club. Prior to working at Kentucky, she spent time as an assistant coach at Northwestern State (in Natchitoches, La.) and volunteered as a coach at her Alma Mater, UNLV. As a player for the Rebels, she was a two-year starter at first base and catcher. She was chosen as a team captain, and earned Academic All-Mountain West Conference accolades three times. Additionally, she made the Dean's List at UNLV seven different times and received the Coaches Award her senior year. She earned bachelor's degrees in recreation and leisure studies and in fitness management in 2002 and a master's in sports leadership from Kentucky in 2007. |
