Fordham softball split Saturday's games at the James Madison/Days Inn Invitational with a 2-1 victory over the Winthrop Eagles and a tough 4-3 10-inning loss to Pittsburgh. With 18 strikeouts against Winthrop, sophomore pitcher Jen Mineau broke Fordham's single season strike out record. Against Pitt, Mineau (14-3) came in for Plimpton in the sixth and tallied nine more strikeouts. Just 24 games into 2010, Mineau has recorded 204 strikeouts, besting Sara Kinney's previous record of 182 in 2007. Against the Eagles, Mineau struck out the side three times, for a season total of 21. [Full Story]

The Fordham softball team extended their win-streak to five games on Friday, the first day of the James Madison/Days Inn Invitational as the Rams tallied a 5-1 victory over Pittsburgh and a 7-0 win over host school, James Madison University, at Veteran Memorial Park. Seven of the Rams' combined 12 runs were scored on two outs. [Full Story]

After two wins at home against Seton Hall on Wednesday, Fordham will once again take to the road to compete at the James Madison University/Days Inn Invitational over the weekend, its final weekend tournament of the season.
In Harrisonburg, Va., the Rams will square off against host school, James Madison, twice, Pittsburgh, twice and Winthrop over the course of three days, March 19-21. [Full Story]

The Atlantic 10 today announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2009 semester, honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better. Included on the list was sophomore Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) a Visual Arts major with the softball program.[Full Story]

Fordham softball split the final two games of the Springhill Suites Buckhead Classic, hosted by Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. The Rams lost the 4 p.m. game, 1-0, to Georgia State then rallied for the second game for a 4-0, 10-inning shutout over Mercer. With the wins, Fordham had another successful weekend, winning three of four games with a 2-1 extra inning victory over No. 8/11 Georgia Tech and advancing to a 13-5 overall record.[Full Story]
