Summer Catch-Up: Golf, Water Polo & Softball

As the dog days of summer continue to roll along, today's catch-up focuses on a member of the Fordham golf team, Brody Nieporte, softball pitcher Chelsea Plimpton and water polo head coach Bill Harris. Nieporte finished as the runner-up at the LIGA Amateur Championship, this past weekend, Plimpton will pitch for Western New York in this week's Empire State games, while Harris raises funds for cancer research this Saturday as a part of Swim Across America[Full Story]

105 Fordham Student-Athletes Named to 2010 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Spring Semester Honor Roll

The Atlantic 10 announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2010 semester, honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better. Included on the list were five members of the Fordham softball program. [Full Story]

  • The Women's College World Series is over, and the final polls and awards are out with Fordham finishing just outside both the ESPN.com/USA Softball and the USA Today/NFCA polls.   • Mineau Selected As Fordham Softball's First-Ever Louisville Slugger®/NFCA First Team All-American
  • Sophomore Jen Mineau (Schaghticoke, N.Y./Hoosic Valley Central) recorded her final honor of the season as she was selected as one of the 18 members of the 2010 Louisville Slugger®/NFCA All-American First Team. Mineau joins Kenzie Fowler of University of Arizona and Danielle Lawrie of University of Washington as one of the three first-team pitchers, as the First, Second and Third Teams were announced by officials from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.[Full Story]

  • Bridget Orchard Named ECAC Coach of the Year
  • The season may be over, but the postseason awards keep rolling in as Fordham softball head coach Bridget Orchard was named ECAC Coach of the Year by officials from the ECAC. The accolade comes on the heels of her third Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year Award. In addition to Orchard, senior Erin Fisher, junior Beckah Wiggins and sophomore Jen Mineau were named to the ECAC's First Team All-Star list and junior Jocelyn Dearborn to the second team.[Full Story]
