01/30/2013 Women's Soccer To Host 3-on-3 Tournament Fundraiser for Rebuild Staten IslandFundraiser To Be Held on Saturday, February 9th, in Lombardi Fieldhouse With over 10 years of combined service as a player and a coach at Rose Hill, Casey Sommers begins her eighth season as an assistant coach on the Fordham women's soccer staff, and was promoted to a full-time assistant in 2011. Since joining the staff, Sommers has helped lead Fordham to back-to-back Atlantic 10 Championship game appearances in 2006 and 2007. Overall in her stay, the Rams have compiled 70 wins over the past seven seasons and set team single season records for overall wins (14 in 2006), conference wins (8 in 2008), goals (45 in 2006), and assists (44 in 2006). Sommers is no stranger to Fordham Soccer, playing four seasons for the Rams from 1999-2002, serving as team captain in 2001. In four years, she appeared in 61 contests, registering six goals and seven assists. After graduation, Sommers played with the Rhode Island Rays WPSL team and continues to play today in the NYWMSL. Outside of Fordham, she is the Head Coach of the NY Magic Super Y U-15 team and has served as a soccer coach at North Carolina Girls Soccer Camp, Soccer Extreme Camps and in the Collegiate Soccer System. Sommers graduated from Fordham in 2003 with a degree in Political Science with a minor in Business. After school, she became a paralegal at Cohen & Gresser, LLP, where she oversaw deposition and arbitration preparation. |
