Rowing's Sarah Lang Named Academic All-Atlantic 10

Philadelphia, Pa. - Fordham University graduate student Sarah Lang (New Bedford, Mass./Tabor Academy) was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team in voting conducted among the Conference's sports information directors it was announced today. She becomes the 12th Fordham rower to earn Academic All-Conference honors and extends the Rams' streak to 12 straight years with at least one rower being named to the team. Lang is a member of the varsity 8 at Fordham, earning Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors following the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Rowing Championship in April. This marked the second ever All-Conference rowing honor for a Fordham student-athlete. As a member of the varsity eight, Lang helped lead the shell to a sixth-place finish at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship. The varsity 8 also won the 2008 Fall and the 2009 Spring Metropolitan Intercollegiate Rowing Association's Championship as well as placing fourth at the Jesuit Cup and fifth at the Murphy Cup. More recently, she helped the varsity 8 to a fourth place finish at the 20090 ECAC Metro Championships, as the Rams finished ahead of A-10 foes Massachusetts in both their heat and in the championship race last Saturday on the Cooper River. As a member of the varsity 8 last spring, Lang won a gold medal at the 2008 Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championship and took eighth at the 2008 Dad Vail Championships. The Fordham crew will next be in action on Friday, May 8th, as they compete in the 2009 Dad Vails Championships on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
