Michael Sledzinski begins his second season as a member of the Fordham crew staff in 2012-13 where he will again serve as the Boatman/Rigger for the men and women's programs. In this role, he will be responsible for the care and repair of all the boats in Fordham's fleet as well as the maintenance of all equipment. He will also be in charge of transporting the shells to regattas and training trips. Prior to arriving at Rose Hill, Sledzinski was an assistant coach at Fordham Preparatory School for three years. During his time at the Prep, several boats made Scholastic Rowing Association Nationals and two crews made it to the US Rowing Youth National Championship regatta. He hopes to bring the success he has had at Fordham Prep to the University. Sledzinski, who will also be serving as the head coach of the men's Frosh/Novice squad, was a four-year member of the Fordham University Men's Rowing Team from 2007-2011 and brings a wealth of knowledge with him. He has been very successful both as a lightweight and a heavyweight. Some of his most notable accomplishments include a second place finish in the lightweight pair at the 2007 Club National Championships, a third place showing in the heavyweight eight at the 2009 Dad Vail Championship Regatta and the gold medal in the heavyweight four with, at the 2010 US Rowing Collegiate National Championship Regatta. For the 2010-2011 season Sledzinski was the captain of the team. During his four years at Fordham, Mike was an integral part of the team. |
