Entering his second year on the Fordham Rowing team staff is Boatman and Rigger Russell Giacobbe. In his first year at Fordham, Giacobbe was freshman women's coach where he worked with one of the largest groups of freshman women in the team's history. In his role as team boatman, Giacobbe is responsible for the care and repair of all boats and equipment as well as transport of shells to regattas and on training trips.

In addition to his duties with the Fordham rowing team, Giacobbe currently serves as the head rowing coach at Fordham Preparatory High School, and as a juniors rowing coach with the Pelham Community Rowing Association where he is also the team boatman.

Giacobbe is a 2009 graduate of Clark University in Worcester, MA, where he majored in Geography and European History. At Clark, Giacobbe was a three-time recipient of the most valuable rower award for the men's varsity rowing team (2007-09). Giacobbe was captain of the Clark men's rowing team in his junior and senior years (2007-09).

During college, Giacobbe coached summers with the River Rowing Association, and was an assistant rowing coach at Worcester Academy, an NEIRAC school in Worcester, MA. He is a US Rowing Level II Certified Coach.
