Rams Take On Spiders At The Robins Center Wednesday
Feb. 2, 2010 Richmond, Va. - Fordham travels to Richmond, Va., on Feb. 3 to face the Richmond Spiders for an Atlantic 10 conference game at the Robins Center. The Rams and Spiders will tip off at noon on Wednesday. The game will be live streamed via www.RichmondSpiders.com with play-by-play by Matt Smith along with live stats. Fordham's station, WFUV Radio, will also carry the game called by Tom Felice and color commentary by Chris Quagliata. While Richmond will be trying to snap a three-game league losing streak, the Rams (8-14, 2-5 A-10) will look to capitalize off Saturday's 57-47 A-10 victory over La Salle with hopes of making it a two-game league-win streak for the first time since 2005-06. The Rams have won two of their last three games played. SCOUTING RICHMOND: Richmond's losing streak began at Dayton, where the Spiders lost 83-31 to the Flyers in Ohio on Jan. 23. On Jan. 26, Richmond lost 60-46 at Charlotte. The Spiders are led by Brittani Shells, a junior who averages 16.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 31.8 minutes per game. Shells leads the A-10 in scoring and steals (3.0 per game). In league play, Shell averages 14.5 ppg. Richmond is ranked fi rst in the A-10 and 22nd in the nation in steals. RAMS VS. SPIDERS - THE SERIES: Richmond is 4-0 over Fordham at the Robins Center. The Spiders average a +14.0 ppg margin of victory over the Rams and have won the lone neutral game at the Radisson Classic in 1988.
The last time the teams met at the Robins Center, Richmond won 80-62 (Feb. 2, 2008). WHEN LAST THEY MET: In the first half, Richmond outrebounded Fordham 24-16, the difference-maker with 11 second-chance points for the Spiders. NOTES FROM LA SALLE: The 20-20 score at the half was a season-fi rst for the Rams, making the squad's record 1-0 when tied at the period break.
