The Fordham women's basketball team will play the the fifth-seeded St. Joseph's Hawks in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship on Friday. Rams Outscored 74-59 By No. 5 Xavier, But A-10 Tournament Appearance On Their Horizon

It was an eventful day at Rose Hill Gym as Fordham played No. 5 Xavier to a competitive game in the Rams' regular-season finale. The Rams had a 32-31 lead just before the half, but were outscored in the final six minutes of play as the Musketeers, undefeated in league play, came away with a 74-59 victory. After playing the most spirited and hard-fought Atlantic 10 game of there season thus far, the Rams had better news to look forward to as they were named the No. 12 seed in the conference tournament after winning the coin flip that decided the tie-breaker between Fordham and La Salle. Fordham Hosts No. 5 Xavier In Regular Season Finale

The Fordham women's basketball team will host No. 5 Xavier in the regular-season finale on Sunday at Rose Hill. The Rams and the Musketeers were originally scheduled to tip off on Saturday, but the game was postponed due to weather. Xavier is the highest ranked team Fordham (8-20, 2-11 A-10) has played at Rose Hill in eight years. In 2002, the Rams' hosted No. 5/6 Stanford on Jan. 5, 2002. On Saturday, Feb. 27, the Fordham women's basketball team will play their final regular season game of 2010. The Rams will face No. 5 Xavier at 1 p.m., the highest ranked team Fordham women's basketball has hosted since No. 5/6 Stanford, eight years ago on Jan. 5, 2002. With a key Atlantic 10 win on the line, the Fordham women's basketball team gave the George Washington Colonials a run for a tournament berth as the Rams stayed within two possessions with three minutes left in the game.
