WATER POLO ANNOUNCES RECRUITING CLASS FOR NEXT YEAR

(June 1, 2006) ¨C Fordham Water Polo Coach Bill Harris announced next year¡¯s freshman class for the 2006 Fordham Water Polo team today. The newest Fordham Rams are Thomas Conroy (Annapolis, MD/DeMatha Catholic), Ryan Buckley (San Clemente, CA/San Clemente), Paul Burgin (Walnut Creek, CA/Acalanes), and Andrew Dentinger (Danville, CA/De La Salle). Conroy, a member of the Naval Academy Aquatics Club since 1995, has been a big part of DeMatha¡¯s recent success, helping them to the 2003 Eastern High School Championship, while earning runner-up status in 2004 and 2005. He served as team captain in 2006 and has twice been named to the Northeast Zone Team (2004-05) and was selected to the 2004 Cardinal Cup All-Tournament team. A member of the San Clemente High School water polo program for the past four years, Buckley was a varsity starter his senior year, after serving as team captain and MVP for the junior varsity team. He was also a member of the swimming team, where he was a finalist in the 50-yard freestyle event. Burgin, a member of the Premier League¡¯s Olympic Club in 2005 and 2006, was a four-year varsity player for Acalanes High School. He was selected to the DFAL All-League Team three times, while garnering All-North Coast Honorable Mention as a senior. Dentinger, a member of the Diablo Water Polo and Concord Water Polo club teams, was a varsity water polo player and swimmer at De La Salle High School. He was a First Team All-League performer in water polo as a senior, while being a North Coast Section Finalist in swimming. The Fordham Water Polo team is coming off a nine-win season, the most for the team in recent memory, while also having a player named to the All-Conference team (Paul Shrewsbury) for the first time since the early 1990s.
