or the second time in as many weeks, a governing body has recognized four members of the Fordham water polo team for outstanding efforts in the classroom in addition to their prowess in the pool. The Collegiate Water Polo Association named Patrick Lenihan, Robert Wurtz, Dan Kearney and Davis DeFontes to its 2012 Varsity Scholar Athlete Team after the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches named those four to its All-Academic team last week. The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches announced their men's All-Academic Awards for the 2012 season this past week, honoring student-athletes with at least a 3.2 GPA or higher. The Fordham Rams had four players earn that distinction, which included junior Daniel Kearney and freshmen Patrick Lenihan, Bobby Wurtz, and Davis DeFontes. [Full Story]

- 13 Water Polo Student-Athletes Honored at Tenth Annual Breakfast for Champions

A day after Fordham University recognized some of its finest athletes at the 2013 Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the school recognized 345 student-athletes as champions for their academic prowess at the tenth annual Breakfast for Champions in the McGinley Center Ballroom and Lounge, including 13 members of the water polo program. The Rams in attendance were honored for compiling a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher at an event sponsored by the Fordham Athletic Department with assistance from the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and the Office of Academic Advising.[Full Story]

Brian Bacharach, a 2006 All-American and national champion at Cal-Berkeley, has been brought on as a volunteer assistant coach with the Fordham water polo program, it was announced today by head coach Bill Harris.[Full Story]

As a part of the 2012 CWPA Eastern Championship, the Collegiate Water Polo Association announced its annual All-Conference teams. In those honorees, Fordham sophomore goalkeeper Noah LeBeau (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson Classical) was selected Second Team All-Division at goalkeeper.[Full Story]

- Water Polo Ends Season With Overtime Loss To Iona

The Fordham water polo team looked to end their season on a high note on Sunday, as the Rams faced off against their longtime rival, Iona College, in the fifth place game at the Northern Division Championship in Providence, Rhode Island. The Rams would build up an 8-4 lead in the fourth quarter, but a late surge by Iona forced overtime in which the Gaels pulled out a 12-10 victory.[Full Story]

In an extremely tight match, the Fordham water polo team dropped its opening match of the Northern Division Championship to Harvard by a score of 10-8. The Rams however did rebound to defeat Connecticut College in game two, 11-8 to advance to the fifth place match on Sunday.[Full Story]

- Two Rams Pick Up Weekly Accolades from CWPA

In the final week of CWPA weekly accolades, Fordham senior Alex Judge (Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y./Croton Harmon) and sophomore Noah LeBeau (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson Classical) were named the CWPA Northern Division Player and Defensive Player of the Week award, respectively. This is the first career award for Judge and the second for LeBeau, as he earned a Rookie of the Week award last season.[Full Story]
