Men's Indoor Track & Field Takes Three Second Place Finishes at IC4A Championships

Boston, Mass. - The Fordham University men's indoor track and field squad wrapped up competition at the IC4A Championships at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center on Sunday with the team turning in it best ever finish at the championship, tying for ninth with 27 team points.
After Julian Saad scored by placing sixth in the 3000m on day one, the Rams had three second place finishes on day two as David Fajoyomi and Kevin Fitzgerald placed second in the high jump and mile, respectively, and the 4x800 relay also took second. With the second place finishes, Fajoyomi, Fitzgerald and the 4x800 relay all earned Second Team All-East honors.
Fajoyomi cleared a season-best 2.17m (7' 1.5") in the high jump, just an inch behind the winner, Montez Blair from Cornell University.
In the mile, Fitzgerald turned in a time of 4:05.52, behind Connecticut's Joe Clark, who won the race in a time of 4:03.82, and just ahead of Chris Tyson from William and Mary, who took third 0.05 seconds behind Fitzgerald.
In the 4x800 relay, the Fordham team of John Cosgrove, Michael Rossi, Ryan Polo and Fitzgerald crossed the line in a season-best time of 7:25.29, behind the Cornell squad that won the event in a time of 7:24.08. The Rams were over two seconds faster than the third place finishers, St. Francis (N.Y.) College.
Cornell won the team title with a score of 74, followed by Connecticut (59), Rutgers and Maryland-Eastern Shore (39), William and Mary (33), Hampton and Harvard (29), Rhode Island (28) and Fordham, Monmouth and Liberty, who tied for ninth with 27 points.
In the women's ECAC Championships, the Rams had one competitor on the final day with Erin Lunny placing eleventh in the 3000m in a season-best time of 9:50.57. It was a sprint to the finish in the race as the eighth through eleventh places were separated by less than 0.60 seconds.
