Men's Tennis Falls to Concordia, 7-0

Bronxville, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's tennis squad traveled up to Bronxville to face Concordia College on Thursday and saw its three-match winning streak halted as the Clippers shutout the Rams, 7-0. Fordham opened the match by dropping the doubles point, losing all three doubles matches. Dallas Harting and Nick Kelly fell at first doubles to Alex Grubin and Andrey Boldarev, 8-3, while Brandon Abbatiello and Alex DeRienzo were upended at second doubles by Raphael Namias and Feliz Missal, 8-2. Ken Fukumoto and Eli Plangger lost at third doubles to Tamas Dobrotka and Andreas Lindell, 8-0. In singles play, the Rams fell in straight sets at every position with the exception of sixth singles where John Thornhill dropped the first set to Dane Istilly, 7-5, before coming back to win the second, 6-1, and force a tiebreaker. But Istilly managed to pull out the tiebreaker, 10-7. The Rams will next be in action on Saturday, October 10th, as they host La Salle University on the Hawthorn/Rooney Courts at 10:00 AM.
