Men's Tennis Picks up First Win of the Season

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Fordham University men's tennis team picked its first win of the season as the Rams traveled to Staten Island where they shutout host Wagner College, 7-0. Fordham opened the match by taking the doubles point, winning all three doubles matches. Nick Kelly and Ken Fukumoto won at first doubles over Taylor Santoro and Nicholas Lezoli, 8-2, while Dan Kane-West and John Thornhill took second doubles from Yirmeyah Beckles and Pierre Yuzon, 8-2, and Andriy Kulak and Julian Edelman was victorious over Nicholas Apicalla and Scott Scriffignano, 8-0. The Rams swept all six singles matches in straight sets. Dallas Harting won at first singles over Santoro (6-0, 6-2) while Brandon Abbatiello took second singles from Beckles (6-2, 6-2). At third singles, Kevin Maloney upended Lezoli (6-0, 6-0) and Alex DeRienzo shutout Yuzon at fourth singles (6-0, 6-0). Jordan Brown was victorious at fifth singles over Zac Lewis and Eli Plangger won at sixth singles over Apicella by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.
