Men's Tennis Opens Play at Atlantic 10 Championships

Monroeville, Pa. - The Fordham University men's tennis squad opened play at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship on Friday with a 4-0 loss to Charlotte at the Club 4 Life. The Rams will now play Dayton on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. Charlotte, the fifth seed, opened play by winning the double points from the 12th-seeded Rams. Chris Huynh and Brad Clinard won at second doubles over Fordham's Brandon Abbatiello and Andriy Kulak, 8-1, while Ken Fukumoto and Eli Plangger were upended by Charlotte's Mike Anders and Mirza Beciragic at third doubles, 8-0. In completed singles matches, Kevin Maloney fell to Anthony Davidson at the third position (6-2 and 6-0) while Sotiris Georgiou lost to Charles Martin-Lecamp at fourth singles (6-3 and 6-0) and Pat Tool went down to Charlotte's Brad Cuellar at the sixth position (6-2 and 6-2). #5 Charlotte vs. #12 Fordham
