Swimming & Diving Wraps Up Competition at the Bucknell Invitational

Lewisburg, Pa. - The Fordham swimming & diving team finished competition at the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The Rams finished fifth out of seven teams in the women's competition, while the men's team was seventh.
Bucknell won the women's title with 1,372.5 points, followed by Delaware (1,370), La Salle (1,111.5), Georgetown (983), Fordham (860), Binghamton (785), and Yale (206). In the men's competition, it was Yale coming out on top with 1,550 points, followed by Delaware (1,265.5), Bucknell (1,191), La Salle (793), Binghamton (747), Georgetown (619), and Fordham (608.5).
The final day of finals began with the women's 1650-yard freestyle, as five Rams scored in the top 20. Kara Field led the pack in 14th (17:41.53), while Megan Gehrich (17:52.33), Megan Zarriello (17:54.41), and Miranda Morton (17:59.77) placed 16th through 18th, respectively. Frances Warren was the final scorer in 20th in 18:12.96.
On the men's side, the trio of Andrew Hendrickson, Nicolas Alemann, and Kurtis Rossie scored in the 1650-yard freestyle event. Hendrickson was 19th in 16:43.10, followed by Alemann in23rd (16:58.71) and Rossie in 24th (17:14.88).
The next event was the 200-yard backstroke, where Brienne Ryan made it a sweep of the backstroke events, as she won the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday. On Sunday, she clocked in with a season-best time of 2:00.84. Three other Rams also scored in the event, as Jordan Tomimatsu was fourth in the "A" final at 2:04.77, while Theresa Goehring was in the "B" final, taking 14th overall (2:06.86). Spencer Chappell was the final scorer, as she won the "C" final to finish 17th overall in 2:06.65.
In the men's 200-yard backstroke, Fordham had a 1-2 finish in the "B" final, as Thomas Yi won the race in 1:52.29 to take ninth overall, while Michael Grimmett-Norris was right behind him in 10th at 1:52.38. Will Thomann also scored for Fordham, registering a time of 1:57.50 to take 22nd overall in the "C" final.
The 100-yard freestyle event followed with the Lulley sisters and Alana Biagioli scoring for the Fordham women. Chandler Lulley and Biagioli tied for 12th overall in the "B" final with a time of 53.64, while Shannon Lulley was in the "C" final, clocking in at 54.14 seconds to take 20th overall. On the men's side, two Rams made the finals, as Shintaro Noguchi placed fifth in the "A" final at 46.60 seconds, while Pat Militti was 13th in the "B" final (47.38).
Next up was the 200-yard breaststroke event, where a total of eight Fordham swimmers made the finals. The women's were led by Anna Marshall in 11th place in 2:25.26, followed by Savannah Coe in 16th (2:28.87), Kelly Carroll in 21st (2:29.24) and Victoria McGovern in 23rd (2:30.13). On the men's side, Steve Sholdra won the "B" final of the 200 breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:06.43, while Eamon Trebilcock was 14th overall in 2:10.79. Ben Dwyer (20th - 2:11.40) and Zachary Jacobsen (24th - 2:13.14) were the remaining two scorers for the Rams.
The final individual swimming event was the 200-yard butterfly, as Warren and Gehrich scored for the second time of the day, making the "A" final. Warren would place fifth in 2:07.05, while Gehrich was eighth in 2:11.90. Morton (16th - 2:12.62), Aurelia O'Keefe (21st - 2:13.44), and Shannon Jones (24th - 2:16.68) also scored for the Rams. On the men's side, Sholdra scored in his second straight event, taking second in the "A" final at 1:50.67 with Noguchi taking 19th in the "C" final at 1:56.56.
The final swimming event was the 400 freestyle relay, as the Rams placed sixth on the women's side in 3:31.43, and fifth on the men's side in 3:07.51.
In diving, Claire Parker scored in the women's one-meter board, taking 20th with a score of 157.25.
The Fordham swimming & diving team will next be in action on Saturday, December 1st, when the Rams host a tri-meet with Boston College and Williams College, beginning at 1:00 PM in the Messmore Aquatic Center.
