Fordham Men Capture Two Event Titles on Day Two of the 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship

Buffalo, N.Y. - The 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championship completed day two on Thursday, and saw Fordham have another strong overall performance with two event wins in the men's competition earning First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors. Overall, the Fordham men sit in sixth place with 139 points.
Massachusetts leads the team competition with 248 points, followed by St. Bonaventure (201), Xavier (200), La Salle (173), Saint Louis (156), Fordham, and George Washington (138).
The night began with the 500 freestyle, as Fordham's Andrew Hendrickson qualified for the "B" final, taking third (11th overall) in a season-best time of 4:36.02.
Next up was the 200 individual medley event, where Fordham again had one competitor in the consolation final. This time, Shintaro Noguchi placed second (10th overall) in a season-best time of 1:52.85.
The final event of day two saw a second consecutive event win for the Rams in the 200 freestyle relay, as Morris, Patrick Militti, Mulligan, and Noguchi posted a school record time of 1:21.68 to win gold. The group surpassed the old mark of 1:22.21 set in 2009, by Ryan Coombs, Billy Colton, Eric Prendergast, and Justin Coombs, while also becoming the first Fordham men's relay to win an event at the Atlantic 10 Championship since 1996 (200 medley relay).
Day three of the Championship continues on Friday with preliminary races at 10:30 AM with the finals at 6:30 PM.
