Men's Soccer Continues Atlantic 10 Play with VCU on Friday

After playing their first three Atlantic 10 games of the 2012 season on the road, the Fordham University men's soccer team continues its A-10 slate on Friday night as they host one of the newest conference members, the VCU Rams on Jack Coffey Field at 5:00 p.m. in the first game of a soccer doubleheader.
The Rams, currently 5-4-2 on the season and ranked eighth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Men's Soccer Poll, 1-1-1 in the Atlantic 10, after a 2-1 win at George Washington last Sunday, are 4-1-2 in their past seven matches, allowing just three goals in the seven games.
Offensively, Fordham is led by Kalle Sotka who has two goals and two assists on the year for six points and Kyle Bitterman, who also has a pair of goal and two helpers on the year for six points. Both of Bitterman's goals have been game-winners, including one in the 89th minute at George Washington on Sunday. Tommy Granot and Michael Valencia have also contributed to the offense with three points each.
The team's biggest strength for the second straight year is the defense. Goalie Sean Brailey has a 5-4-2 mark and a 0.60 GAA with five shutouts to his credit, while the back line of Ryan Curran, Michael Stalker, Casper Gimand and Ryan Cupolo have allowed just seven goals in eleven the games.
VCU enter the game with a 7-2-3 overall record, 3-1-0 in the Atlantic 10, and are coming off a 1-0 A-10 win at Butler last Sunday. VCU is led offensively by Jason Johnson, who has nine goals and three assists for 21 points, and Devon Fisher, who has found the back of the net five times and has one helper for eleven points. In goal, Andrew Wells has a 7-2-3 record with four shutouts and a 0.77 GAA.
Following the game with VCU, the Rams remain home to host the University of Richmond Spiders in an Atlantic 10 matchup on Jack Coffey Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
