Bronx, N.Y. - After a rather pedestrian first half where Fordham and Lehigh combined for three shots, the Rams and Mountain Hawks combined for four goals in the second half, playing to a 2-2 draw at Jack Coffey Field on Sunday afternoon. With the tie, Fordham moves to 1-2-1 overall, while Lehigh goes to 3-0-1.

All of the action started at the 47:59 mark, where Lehigh grabbed a 1-0 lead. Neal Melchionni ran the ball to the left corner of the field, placing a cross to Jim Taranto, who scored directly in front of the net.

The score stayed that way until the 72nd minute, where Fordham scored twice in a matter of 24 seconds to take a 2-1 lead. Tim Richardson connected on a header off a Sam Jolly cross to tie the game at one at the 71:32 mark. Just 24 seconds later, Aaron Markowitz found Abe Chehebar for a chip shot over the Lehigh defense and into the net for a 2-1 lead.

Lehigh however would knot the game at two in the 77th minute, as Kyle Evans scored on a shot to the lower right corner from 12 yards out on an assist from Taranto.

The game then went to overtime, where Fordham's best opportunity came in the 109th minute, as Richardson's diving header was stopped by Lehigh's Jonathan Nydell.

Nydell finished with three saves on the afternoon, while Fordham's Ryan Meara had two saves.

The Fordham men's soccer team will next be in action on Saturday, September 13th, when they host the Villanova Wildcats at Jack Coffey Field, beginning at 7:00 PM.
