The newest member of Coach McElderry's staff is Goalkeeper Coach John San Fillipo. San Fillipo will be working with the goalies for the 2011 season. He brings a myriad of knowledge and experience with him to Rose Hill. As a coach, San Fillipo has coached at the Storm Soccer Academy where he tutored players from the Garden City Soccer Club, the Port Washington Soccer Club and the Merrick Soccer Club. Prior to his time at the Storm Academy, he served as an instructor for the Plattsburgh Football Club. While there, he ran practices and conducted tryouts. In his professional career, San Fillipo played with the New York Cosmos U23 team, the Westchester Flames PDL squad and the Long Island Rough Riders. At Plattsburgh, in college, San Fillipo was a captain during his junior and senior seasons. He was a three-year starter between the pipes where he was named the SUNYAC Player of the Year in 2008. Additionally, he was selected as First Team All-Region in 2007 & 2008 and as an All-American in 2007. He graduated from Plattsburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Finance. |
