Providence, R.I. - The Fordham men's golf team jumped one spot to finish in fourth place, out of nine teams at the conclusion of play on Sunday at the Colgate Invitational from the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton, New York. Brandon Nolan finished second among individual golfers.

As a team, Fordham posted rounds of 320 and 305 for a total of 625. This fourth-place showing put them just seven strokes behind third place Bucknell, while Youngstown State finished first with a score of 598 with Lehigh behind them at 608. Fordham's 305 score was the second lowest team total of the round.

Brandon Nolan opened competition with a 72 and followed that with a 78 for a combined 150. He finished seven shots behind the overall winner, Bill Gaffney of Youngstown State. After Nolan, Connor Monaghan posted rounds of 80 and 74, for a 13th place showing and a total of 154. Jeff Hogan was one stroke behind him with marks of 82 and 73. Ben Alcorn came in 21st with scores of 82 and 74 for a 156, and Jason Del Rosso was the final Fordham linksman to finish in the top 25 as his rounds of 77 and 80 equaled a 157 and were good for 25th position. After that, Pat Herlihy scored 81 and 78 for a total of 159 and a share of 29th, while Brody Nieporte had rounds of 83 and 81 for a sum of 164 and a 39th place finish.

 

 

The golfing Rams return to action on Monday, September 17, when the team travels to Newport, Rhode Island to compete in the 2012 Adams Cup. The two day event will be held at the Newport Country Club.
