Fordham Golf Team Wins Rhody Invitational

Portsmouth, R.I. - The Fordham golf team continued its successful spring season by racking up its second team win of the season, as they finished with a combined score of 604, three strokes ahead of second place, Sacred Heart, to capture the Rhody Invitational from the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island on Sunday. The Rams recorded a second round team score of 300 after opening with a 304 on Saturday. Five Fordham golfers finished in the top 10 among individuals.
The five golfers recording team scorers for the Rams were paced by Jason Del Rosso's who shot a 75 and 73 for a combined 148 and a third-place finish. Devon O'Rourke came in fifth with rounds of 77 and 72 for a total of 149 while Connor Monaghan shot a 151 after rounds of 76 and 75, finishing seventh. Jeff Hogan posted scores of 76 and 85 for a combined 161 and a 29th place finish. The final team competitor was Brody Nieporte who posted scores of 84 and 80 for a 164 total and a 38th place finish.
Amongst individuals, Fordham was led by Brandon Nolan who put up two rounds of 75 for a 150 total and a sixth-place finish. Pat Herlihy opened with a 73 and posted a 79 on Sunday to come in ninth with a total of 152. Justin Clark posted identical scores of 78 for a combined 156 and a 13th place showing, while Ben Alcornput up a pair of 84 scores for a total of 168 and a 45th place finish.
The golf team returns to action on Monday, April 23, when they compete in the 10th Annual Peacock Invitational from Neshanic Valley Golf Club in Neshanic Valley, New Jersey.
