Nov. 15, 2012
Bronx, N.Y. -The Fordham University football Rams close out their 2012 Patriot League season by hosting the Colgate University Raiders on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, November 17, at 1:00 p.m.
Prior to the game, a special ceremony will be held to honor the Fordham University seniors who will be making their final appearance in the maroon and white.
The game will be broadcast live on the internet at wfuv.org with Alex Smith and DJ Sixsmith handling the announcing chores and Kenny Ducey on the sidelines. The game can also been seen online by clicking here.
The Rams enter the Colgate game with a 6-4 record after defeating Lafayette, 36-27, on Jack Coffey Field last Saturday.
Colgate enters the contest with a 7-3 record after a 35-24 Patriot League win at Lehigh last week as the Raiders clinched the 2012 Patriot League title.
The game will be an attempt for senior running back Carlton Koonce to ink his name in the Fordham record book. He enters the contest with 1,364 rushing yards on the year, the third best single season in school history. He is just 113 yards shy of Kirwin Watson's single season record of 1,477 yards set in 2003. Senior kicker Patrick Murray will also look to improve upon his school and Patriot League record 23 field goals this season. He is just three shy of the NCAA FCS mark of 26 set by Tony Zendejas of Nevada in 1982 and matched by Northern Iowa's Brian Mitchell in 1990.
This will be the 24th meeting between Fordham and Colgate on the gridiron with the Raiders leading the all-time series, which started in 1989, 19-4. Colgate has taken the past four meetings, including a 38-14 win last year in Andy Kerr Stadium as Nate Eachus rushed 30 times for 228 yards and one score and Gavin McCarney gained 66 yards on eleven carries and two scores. The last Fordham win occurred in 2007 when the Rams upended the Raiders, 34-31, in Hamilton.
