Defense Bests Offense in Spring Game Tune-Up
April 19, 2008
Bronx, N.Y. - In the final scrimmage before the annual spring game next Saturday, the Fordham defense showed that it was ready for action, holding the offense to three scores while picking off three passes, all three by Kelvin Colbert.
The offense's first score came on a 72-yard touchdown run from 2007 Patriot League Rookie of the Year, Xavier Martin. Martin turned in a strong performance in the game, breaking three other runs for a gain of more than ten yards.
Colbert led the defense, recording three interceptions on the day, the last on the final play of the scrimmage at the ten yard line during the two-minute drill. Prior to the interception, quarterback John Skelton led the offense downfield, completing a pass to Nnamdi Onyeabar for a big gain before scampering out of the pocket for another first down.
The Rams will wrap up spring practice with the annual spring game next Saturday, April 26th, at 11:00 a.m. on Murphy Field.
