Fordham University redshirt senior running back Carlton Koonce (Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley) has been named to the 2013 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS Running Back Award watch list it was announced this week. The preliminary watch list highlights thirty-three returning performers, vying for the top individual running back honor in the Football Championship Subdivision. [Full Story]

Fordham's Brendan Melanophy, Patrick Murray and Nick Womack were all honored recently by the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) as they were named to the 2013 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. A total of 703 players from 259 schools qualified for membership in the society's seventh year, marking the highest school participation in the history of the program, which began in 2007. Following the NFL draft last weekend, five Fordham University football seniors have been invited to NFL rookie free agent camps this week, the most of any Patriot League school. Patrick Murray will head to the Windy City for the Chicago Bears rookie camp, Brendan Melanophy will be attending the New York Jets camp, Greg Wilson will travel back home to attend the San Francisco 49ers camp and Lloyd Morrison and Stephen George will travel south to participate in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers camp. - Defense Dominates in Annual Spring Football Game

The Fordham defense put in a lot of hard work this spring and it showed at tonight's Spring Game on Jack Coffey Field as the unit had the offense off balance for most of the night, allowing just two touchdowns and two field goals. DeAndre Slated paced the defense with five total tackles, including 3.5 sacks while Bret Biestek also notched four stops, including one for loss.[Full Story]

- Football's "Be a Match Registry" Program a Success

When the Fordham football program decided to participate with the "Be a Match" registry, helping to sign up fellow students to the national bone marrow donation list, the Rams had a goal of registering 200 people. But Fordham students, who continually demonstrate the Jesuit philosophy of "men and women for others", proved that the football Rams underestimated their desire to help, turning out in force and more than doubling the expected number of donors.[Full Story]

The 2013 Fordham University football squad culminates the spring season with the annual Maroon and White scrimmage on Friday night, April 26, on Jack Coffey Field beginning at 7:00 p.m. This will mark the first year that the annual spring game will be played at night and on Jack Coffey Field.[Full Story]

While most students on campus were sleeping in before heading to Edwards Parade to enjoy one of nicest spring days the semester, about 90 Fordham University student-athletes, including members of the football program, woke up early and spent some time in the sun of the Rockaways, lending a hand those affected by Hurricane Sandy as part of the university's Sandy Solidarity Project.[Full Story]
