Fordham Men's Basketball Falls to Robert Morris
There was one former men's basketball player who was happy at today's Fordham-Robert Morris game. Unfortunately for current Ram fans, that former player turned out to be the head coach of Robert Morris University. Mike Rice, a 1991 Fordham graduate who was a four-year member of the men's basketball squad, brought his Colonials into the Rose Hill Gym and left with a 72-66 win.

Fordham enters the game with a 0-2 record after falling to the University of Pittsburgh in the first round of the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off last night. Robert Morris enters the game with an 0-2 record after an 80-69 loss to Lehigh last night in the first round of the 2012 NIT Season Tip-Off in the Petersen Events Center.

On the court, Fordham is led by sophomore guard Bryan Smith who is averaging a team-high 13.5 ppg after netting eleven points last night. Senior Chris Gaston is second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.5 ppg, and he leads the squad in rebound at 10.0 rpg. Gaston, who led the team in scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg) last year, has 931 career rebounds, fifth all-time at Fordham, and 1,451 career points, ninth all-time at Rose Hill. He is 37 rebounds behind Bill McCadney (1955-58) for fourth on the all-time rebounding list and 73 points behind Brenton Butler on the all-time scoring list.

This will be the second meeting between Robert Morris and Fordham on the hardwood with the Colonials winning the first matchup, 72-66, in the Rose Hill Gym on December 2, 2007.
