Men's Basketball Travels to Texas State for Season Opener on Friday

The Fordham University Rams open their 2012-2013 season by traveling to San Marcos, Texas, to face the Texas State University Bobcats in the Strahan Coliseum on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. (EST) (note that this is the second game of a doubleheader at Texas State and the game will probably start closer to 8:30 p.m.). The game will be broadcast live on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on wfuv.org as well as being streamed live at www.txstatebobcats.com (fee required). You can also follow the game via Live Stats.
Fordham enters the season after going 10-19 last year, 3-13 in the Atlantic 10, while Texas State, who begins its first season in the Western Athletic Conference, compiled a 13-17 overall record in 2011-2012.
Friday night's contest will be the second meeting between Fordham and Texas State on the hardwood. The Rams won the first meeting, 81-70, in the Rose Hill Gym last December when Chris Gaston scored a career-high 35 points, shooting 13-of-17 from the field, and grabbed 15 rebounds.
On the court, Fordham is led by senior Chris Gaston, who led the team in scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (9.9 rpg) last year. He enters the 2012-2013 season with 911 career rebounds, sixth all-time at Fordham, and 1,428 career points, eleventh all-time at Rose Hill.
