Fordham's Chris Gaston Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year

Fordham University freshman forward Chris Gaston (Palisades Park, N.J./St. Anthony) was named the 2010 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches it was announced by the league office today. He becomes the third Ram to be named A-10 Rookie of the Year, joining Bevon Robin (1998) and Bryant Dunston (2005). [Full Story]

Men's Basketball Closes Out Season with Offensive Explosion but Fall to Duquesne, 111-100

Pittsburgh doesn't have an NBA team. But don't tell that to the fans who showed up at the A.J. Palumbo Center on Friday after noon to watch the Fordham-Duquesne Atlantic 10 men's basketball game. The two teams displayed a run-and-gun offense to combine for 211 points but unfortunately for the Rams, it was the Dukes who finished on top, 111-100 in the season-finale for Fordham. [Full Story]

Men's Basketball Done in by Xavier

For the first 20 minutes of tonight's Jesuit basketball Spotlight game in the Rose Hill Gym, Xavier and Fordham displayed the Jesuit philosophy of being men for others. For both the Musketeers and Rams spent the first half building small leads before letting the other team come back. But in the second half Xavier showed why it's a top-25 team, shooting close to 50% as the Musketeers pulled away from the Rams for an 82-56 Atlantic 10 win. [Full Story]

  • The meteorologists are calling for blizzard-like condition to hit the New York City area on Thursday morning but the whiteout hit the Bronx early as Fordham students turned out in force for a Whiteout Game in the Rose Hill Gym.   • Fordham University freshman forward Chris Gaston is currently ranked ninth among all freshmen in the country according to the latest Rivals.com Basketball Power Rankings. He moves up from the 13th spot last week and is the top-rated freshman from the Atlantic 10, joined only by Charlotte's Chris Braswell, who is 24th, on the list.[Full Story]

  • Men's Basketball Falls at Rhode Island
  • When the Fordham-Rhode Island basketball game started it almost appeared as if some of the Rhode Island athletes from the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championships, which was being contested next door to the Ryan Center, had found the wrong venue. Rhode Island sprinted by the Fordham defense over the first three minutes, building a 20-point lead, and Fordham couldn't recover, falling to Rhode Island, 101-75, in an Atlantic 10 game in the Ryan Center.[Full Story]

  • Playing against a tenacious Richmond defense, a unit ranked third in the Atlantic 10 in points allowed, Fordham expected its scoring opportunities to be at a premium. But what the Rams didn't expect was that the Spiders' offense, an offense that entered the game ranked eleventh in the conference in scoring, would be so potent, as Richmond registered its third highest scoring game of the year, upending the Rams 84-56 in an Atlantic 10 game in the Robins Center.[Full Story]
