Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade today announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2009 semester, honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better. Included on the list were 99 Fordham student-athletes were Joe Russo and John Young from the baseball program. [Full Story]

Fordham baseball right-handed pitcher Peter Kennelly (Pearl River, N.Y./Bergen Catholic) was selected in the 38th round (#1152) of the 2009 Major Leage Baseball First Year Player Draft by the Minnesota Twins. Kennelly has been the only Ram drafted this year thus far, and is the tenth Fordham baseball draft pick in the last eight seasons. [Full Story]

- Ninth-Inning Surge Not Enough as Baseball Falls to Charlotte, 13-10

The Fordham baseball team was an out away from a 13-6 loss to Charlotte. The Rams however wouldn't go away in the ninth inning, putting forth a valiant comeback effort to bring the tying run to the plate, but unfortunately could not complete the comeback, falling by a 13-10 count to the 49ers for an early exit from the Atlantic 10 Championships.[Full Story]

- Baseball Stumbles Against UMass in Opening Round of A10 Championships with 5-4 Loss

In a game which saw a number of scoring opportunities slide away with 21 runners left on base, it was UMass' Adam Tempesta's RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth, which turned out to be the game-winning hit, as the Massachusetts Minutemen opened the 2009 Atlantic 10 Baseball Championships with a 5-4 victory over the Fordham Rams at Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio.[Full Story]

- Danny Leach & Bobby DiNardo Earn All-Atlantic 10 Awards

With the announcement of the 2009 Atlantic 10 All-Conference baseball awards this afternoon, fifth-year senior Danny Leach (Yonkers, N.Y./Iona Prep) and senior Bobby DiNardo (Danbury, Conn./Danbury) find themselves among the best in the conference. In the coaches' voting, Leach earned Second Team All-Conference honors while DiNardo was voted to the Academic All-Conference Team by the sports information directors in the conference.[Full Story]

- Nick Martinez and Livan Hernandez Celebrate Common Heritage and 150th Milestones

To the naked eye, one would assume Fordham baseball's Nick Martinez has nothing in common with New York Mets hurler Livan Hernandez. One is a rookie second baseman who is starting to make waves in his college career while the other has 14 years of Major League experience with seven different organizations. But on Wednesday, May 13, the two ballplayers met prior to the Mets' afternoon dip with the Atlanta Braves and found out they have much more in common than anyone would ever imagine.[Full Story]

Fordham University senior Danny Leach (Yonkers, N.Y./Iona Prep) has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week while freshman pitcher Daniel Munday (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Xavier) has earned his second-straight Rookie of the Week honor in the week ending on May 17, as announced by the league office.[Full Story]
