Having the opportunity to win a worldwide award as the best play of the year, Fordham shortstop Brian Kownacki didn't know what his competition was at the 2010 ESPY Awards in Los Angeles. After a valiantly push by Fordham fans, it was a neck-and-neck vote, but it was only a future hall of fame quarterback, that denied Kownacki the ultimate prize, as Brett Favre's game-winning touchdown pass to Greg Lewis, beating the S.F. 49ers, edged the Fordham Flip as the 2010 Play of the Year. The Atlantic 10 announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Spring 2010 semester, honoring each student-athlete in the Atlantic 10 with a 3.5 grade point average or better. Included on the list were six members of the Fordham baseball program. [Full Story]

- Fordham's Chris Walker Named Second Team ABCA All-Region

Fordham University junior catcher Chris Walker (Bethpage, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Second Team All-Northeast Region Team it was announced by the ABCA today. This is Walker's third postseason accolade for 2010 as he earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors prior to the Atlantic 10 Championship and was named a Second Team ECAC All-Star on June 15th.[Full Story]

- Pair of Fordham Baseball Players Sign Free Agent Contracts

Though the Fordham baseball team did not have a Major League Baseball draft pick this year for the first time since 2005, the Rams did have two players sign as free agents this past weekend as catcher Angelo Ponte (Old Tappan, N.J./Old Tappan) signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and infielder Ryan McCrann (Needham, Mass./Needham) signed with the Tampa Bay Rays.[Full Story]

- 15 Baseball Rams Hit Summer League Play

Now that school has ended, a number of Fordham athletes join their summer and club teams to get ready for the 2010-11 season. For baseball, 15 players are in four of the major wood bat summer leagues: Cape Cod League, NECBL, ACBL, Florida Collegiate Summer League (FCSL) and the ABCCL. - Baseball Eliminated From A-10 Championship by La Salle, 10-8

Despite another solid performance out of the Rams' offense, where the team tallied eight runs on 11 hits, Fordham was unable to totally recover from a six-run outburst by La Salle in the bottom of the fourth inning, as the Explorers eliminated the Fordham Rams from the Atlantic 10 Championship with a 10-8 victory at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J.[Full Story]

The Fordham Rams got exactly what they needed offensively in their opening contest of the 2010 Atlantic 10 Championship, scoring 11 runs to go with 15 hits. Unfortunately, Saint Louis matched the 15 hits, scoring 16 runs, with the vast majority of the damage off the bat of Ben Braaten, who had four hits and a career-high six RBI, as the Billikens defeated the Fordham Rams, 16-11, at Campbell's Field in Camden, N.J.[Full Story]
