Cambridge, Mass. - The Fordham squash team resumed their 2008-09 season on Saturday as they split a pair of matches with MIT and Bryant. The Rams fell to MIT, 8-1, while defeating Bryant by the same score. With the split, Fordham is now 3-8 on the season.

In the Saturday morning session, Fordham fell to MIT by a score of 8-1. Brandon Abbatiello picked up the lone win for Fordham at the #4 slot, defeating Mick Zomnir in four sets, 7-9, 9-6, 9-0, and 9-4.

Seven of the other eight matches were three set sweep, while at the #1 slot, Fordham's Mike Hennessy lost in four sets to Balaji Sridhar, 9-10, 9-2, 9-2, and 9-2.

In the afternoon, Fordham captured their third win of the season, defeating Bryant, 8-1.

The Rams posted three-set sweeps in seven of the eight wins. The only exception was at the #4 slot, as Abbatiello won in four sets over Zehn Laliwala, 7-9, 9-4, 9-2, and 9-3.

Hennessy, Peter Slucky, Andriy Kulak, Eli Plangger, James Lechleitner, Ken Fukumoto, and Andrew Grosner also picked up wins for Fordham.

The Fordham squash team will next be in action on February 20-22, as they compete at the CSA Team Championship, held at Princeton University.
