Biography

A 2014 preseason All-Patriot League selection... named to the 2014 CFPA Defensive Line Watch List… 2013 Capital One/CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America®… also named one of two FCS ADA Scholar-Athletes of the Year and received a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship… named 2013 Academic All-Patriot League and to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team… believed to be just the second Fordham football player to graduate early and enroll directly into the MBA program… named First Team All-Patriot League in 2013… recipient of the Fordham Academic Achievement Award in 2013… returned to action in 2012 after missing most of the 2011 season with an injury… made 22 total tackles in 2012, including 5.5 for loss… named to the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 Patriot League Honor Roll.

2013: Started all 14 games on the defensive line… named First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-America®… one of two recipients of a FCS ADA Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship… a First Team All-Patriot League selection… made 58 total tackles, 40 solo, including 14.5 for loss and 5.0 sacks… tied for second on team in TFL and sacks… also had four pass breakups, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and five quarterback hurries… had a career-high seven tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and forced a fumble in the Villanova game… also notched seven tackles, six solo, including two for loss, in Sacred Heart NCAA FCS playoff win… notched six tackles, two solo, including one for loss at Georgetown… opened season with five solo stops against Rhode Island… had five tackles, four solo, including a career-high three for loss vs. Holy Cross… finished with four solo stops, including two for loss and one sack, and recovered a fumble at Yale… made four tackles, two solo, including one for loss, and forced a fumble in the win over Bucknell… recorded four stops, three solo, including one sack in the NCAA FCA playoff game at Towson… had two tackles and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a score in the Columbia game… made two solo stops, both for loss, and one sack against Lehigh.

2012: Appeared in nine games as a junior on the defensive line… finished season with 22 total tackles, 15 solo, including 5.5 for loss and 3.0 sacks…tied for third in team in tackles for loss… also broke up six passes, tied for the team lead… closed out season with four tackles, three solo and 1.5 for loss, against Colgate… made four tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and broke up three passes in the win over Georgetown… finished with four stops, including three solo and one for loss, at Columbia… made three tackles, two solo, at Villanova and had two more, including one sack, in win over Lafayette… recorded two stops, including one sack in the opener with Lock Haven… finished with two stops, including 0.5 sacks, versus Cornell.

2011: Appeared in the first three games of the year as a sophomore before missing the remainder of the season with an injury… made six total tackles in the three games, three solo… recorded four tackles in the season opener at UConn, two solo.

2010: Did not see varsity action as a freshman… appeared at linebacker with the junior varsity program.

Before Fordham: A graduate of Mark. T. Sheehan High School in Wallingford, Connecticut, where he played for head coach John Ferrazzi... graduated with school records for passing touchdowns in a season (23) and career (49) as well as school marks in passing yards in a season (2,357) and career (4,872)... named 2009 All-State and All-League... also a 2009 Governor’s Cup Selection... a 2009 team captain... set school record for touchdown passes in a season with 16... honored as a 2009-10 Scholar-Athlete by the Gene J. Casey New Haven County Chapter of the National Football Foundation... 2008 Carini Bowl MVP... also a member of the basketball team at Sheehan, leading the squad to the 2010 Connecticut Class M State championship... served as a basketball team captain... an All-Housatonic League pick... holds school marks for most rebounds in a game (23), most rebounds in a season (316) and most career rebounds (789)... also competed with the outdoor track team, winning the shot put event at the Class MM outdoor championship track meet... named a Scholar-Athlete in 2010 at Sheehan... a two-time football and basketball scholar-athlete... recipient of the Sportsmanship Award for two years... National Honor Society nominee.

Personal: Son of Laura Lynne and Dr. John S. Biestek… has an older sister, Jennifer… received  degree in Finance in 2014 and is currently enrolled in the MBA program.
