Fairfax, Va. – (April 24, 2022) – George Mason's Danny Hosley and Daniel Brooks each hit a home run and drove in four runs, as the Patriots took out the Fordham Rams, 15-1, in the series finale at Spuhler Field on Sunday.
George Mason (14-24, 6-6 A10) scored right away in the first inning for a 1-0 lead, getting an RBI-ground out by Brett Ahalt to score Brett Stallings from third.
The score remained that way until the Patriots blew the game open with five runs in the fourth and four in the fifth for a 10-0 lead. Highlighting the scoring, Daniel Brooks hit a grand slam home run in the fourth, while Danny Hosley had a three-run home run in the fifth. Connor Dykstra also hit a solo home run in the fourth.
George Mason finished their scoring with a run in the sixth and four in the seventh.
Fordham's (9-27, 4-8 A10) lone highlight came in the sixth, as
David Kale hit a solo home run to right field, his second of the season. Kale finished the game 2-for-4 with the home run, while
Zach Selinger went 2-for-4 with a double.
It was a difficult day for Fordham starter
Brooks Ey, falling to 2-6 on the season, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits over five innings with two strikeouts.
Joseph Quintal (1 IP, 1 R), Beau Rottman (1 IP, 3 ER), and
Jake Clark (1 IP, 0 R) finished out the game on the mound.
Fordham will next be in action on Tuesday, April 26
th, when the team hosts Iona for a 3:00 PM start.
