Bronx, N.Y. – (March 16, 2022) – Wagner's Mike Ruggiero scored four runs and was one of four Seahawks to register a home run on Wednesday, as Wagner won a slugfest over the Fordham Rams, 19-11, at Houlihan Park.
Wagner (2-12) got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning, as Mateo Matthews hit a two-run home run to left, his first of the season.
Fordham (2-12) answered immediately, tying the game at two in the bottom of the frame. With two on and one out,
Andy Semo singled to right field to score
Jake Guercio, while
Sebastian Mexico hit a sacrifice fly to left to score
Jason Coules.
The Seahawks regained the lead in the second with three runs, highlighted by a two-run double by Lukas Torres.
The Rams cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fourth inning, as Mexico led off with a double, and was followed by RBI-doubles by
Zach Selinger and
T.J. Wachter.

The game then went into overdrive in the sixth inning with Wagner sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs, while Fordham sent 10 to the dish, netting six runs for a 14-10 score. For the Rams,
Nico Boza registered a two-run double with
Jack Harnisch having a three-run double to highlight the scoring.
The Rams inched closer at 14-11 in the seventh inning, as Mexico walked, advanced to third on two wild pitches, and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Michael Taylor.
Wagner though put an end to the Rams' comeback, getting a three-run home run in the eighth from David Melfi and solo home runs by Dante Faicchio and Mike Ruggiero in the ninth for the 19-11 final.
For the Rams, Mexico finished 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored, and an RBI, while Harnisch drove in three runs.
The Fordham baseball team will next be in action on Friday, March 18
th, as the Rams open a three-game series with Marist, beginning at 3:00 PM.
