LSU's Jared Poche' tossed seven innings of eight-hit ball and struck out five, while Papierski was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, as the nationally-ranked Tigers opened a three-game set with the Fordham Rams with a 12-1 win at Alex Box Stadium in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

With the loss, Fordham falls to 3-5 on the year, while #7/10 LSU improved to 7-2.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when LSU erupted for four runs, highlighted by a three-run home run by Papierski.

The Rams threatened on multiple occasions to score through in the first five innings, but were unable to scratch a run across. In the fifth,
Joseph Runco doubled to left with two outs, bringing
Ryan McNally to the plate. McNally, who had already extended his hit streak to eight games with an infield single in the first, reached on another infield single in the fifth, but Runco tried to take the extra base on the base and was thrown out at home.

The Tigers added to their lead, scoring five runs in the sixth and two in the seventh, for an 11-0 advantage.

Fordham finally broke through in the eighth inning, when
Mark Donadio led off with a single through the left side and moved to second on a walk to
Reiss Knehr.Â
Joseph DeVito then singled through the left side to plate Donadio.

LSU closed out the scoring in the bottom of the eighth, as Romero hit a solo home run to left, his second of the season.

For Fordham,
Greg Weissert (0-1) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts. Five relievers would finish out the game for the Rams. At the plate, DeVito was 2-for-4 with an RBI, while McNally was 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch.

The same two teams will close out their series on Saturday with a 3:00 PM doubleheader.
