The Fordham squash team continued a unique experience on Thursday, as the Rams continued their seven-day stay in the United Kingdom, where Fordham will play exhibition matches against a variety of club teams in the U.K.
Throughout their trip, the Rams will be giving their own updates on the trip.
On day five, a short-handed Rams team fell to the Thames Club, 9-0, in Oxford.
Freshman Robert Levis gives his update from the team.
"Yesterday we woke up around 8 AM and went on a scenic drive from Wimbledon to Oxford. After first visiting the Thames club, where we would be playing later that day, we then took a double decker bus into the city. With so many beautiful and intriguing sights, it was difficult to decide what we wanted to see. After taking in the view of the city from the top of a medieval motte, we decided to take a stroll through the downtown area, gazing in awe at the beautiful buildings.

Having enjoyed Oxford, we headed back to the club for our matches. As sophomore Peter Yuen was not able to play, all the players had to play up a spot with the exception of Kincade Webster. Additionally, assistant coach Ted Clarke filled in as the ninth player, and playing with patience and consistency won two games. Unfortunately, his match had to be cut short due to time. All the other matches were won by the Thames club.
After the matches, I enjoyed a game of doubles with some club members. Interestingly enough, doubles is played with a softball on a singles court in England. Because of the smaller space, I found it to be a much faster paced game. Following the match, we enjoyed a pleasant dinner along with even more pleasant conversation. Saying our goodbyes, we retired to our respective bed and breakfasts and had a good night's sleep."
Day six will see Fordham return to London for a match against St. George's Club.
