Atlantic 10 ReleaseThe Atlantic 10 Conference announced its All-Conference Team and major award winners on Wednesday. Highlighting those awards, Fordham freshman
Janos Loebe (Kierspe, Germany) was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year and First Team All-Atlantic 10. He was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team.
Joining Loebe as award winners on Wednesday were his brother, sophomore
Jannik Loebe (Kierspe, Germany), who along with sophomore
Matthew Lewis (Kansas City, Mo.) were named Second Team All-Atlantic 10, while freshman
Rashid Nuhu (Accra, Ghana) was also named to the Atlantic 10 Rookie Team.
Janos LoebeJanos becomes Fordham's first Atlantic 10 major award winner since Ryan Meara was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2011. Loebe led the Rams' in scoring with five goals and five assists for 15 points in his first campaign for the Rams. He was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week twice this season, and served as Fordham's primary person on corner kicks. With his and Nuhu's selection to the All-Rookie Team, it marks the fifth straight year that Fordham has had a player on the All-Rookie Team, and first time since 2008 with multiple selections.
Jannik Loebe, an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team selection last year, earns Second Team All-Conference this season. Loebe was second on the Rams in scoring with four goals and three assists for 11 points. All four goals came in conference play with two of them being game-winning goals, which earned his Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors back in early October.
Lewis gets his first All-Conference nod after playing the most minutes of any Ram this season at 1604, as he was the lone Ram to start all 17 games on the Rams' backline. Fordham's starting center back helped the Rams' defense to a 1.28 GAA and six shutouts this season.
Though he missed the last two games of the season with an injury, Nuhu stepped in immediately as the Rams' starting goalkeeper as a freshman, starting 14 games. He posted a 1.40 GAA with a 6-6-2 record, 40 saves, and five shutouts this season and was named A-10 Rookie of the Week once.
The Loebes, Lewis, and Nuhu will lead the Rams into their first game of Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday, November 12, when Fordham takes on Massachusetts in the 4-5 game at 2:00 PM in Fairfax, Virginia.
