Former Fordham Ram Kervin Bristol Signs with Maccabi Bazan Haifa

Forward inks two-year deal with Israeli Super League squad

The Maccabi Bazan Haifa professional basketball team, the 2013 Israeli Super League defending champions, announced today the team has signed former Fordham University forward/center Kervin Bristol for the 2013-14 season with a team option for the 2014-15 season.

Bristol, 24, is currently playing in the Dominican Republic for the Huracanes del Atlantico where he has appeared in 11 games, posting averages of 6.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 25.5 minutes.  During the 2012-13 season, he played in Turkey's second division for Istanbulspor, where he averaged a double-double with 10.1 points and 12.2 rebounds (third highest in the league), and recorded 1.6 blocked shots in 19 games.  The 6-foot-10, 224-pound forward/center moved to play in the first division in Slovenia for Polzela, where he also averaged a double-double, tallying 11.4 points and 10.9 rebounds (first in the league), along with a league-leading 2.4 blocks, while shooting 57.3% from the field in 19 games.

"We are pleased to have Kervin Bristol join Maccabi Bazan Haifa as he is a raw physical talent, who attended our Maccabi Haifa tryout camp last summer," said Maccabi Bazan Haifa owner Jeffrey Rosen.  "We've monitored Kervin's progress overseas and he has the potential to develop into a premier defender and rebounder in our league."

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Bristol played his collegiate ball at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for two seasons (averaged 12.4 points and a team-high 10.8 rebounds as a sophomore) before transferring to NCAA Division I Fordham University, where he finished third in the Atlantic 10 in shots blocked (2.4 per game) and fifth in the conference in rebounding (8.0 per game) as a senior during the 2011-12 season. His 69 blocks that season was the seventh best single-season total in school history.

Over his two-year career, Bristol recorded 122 blocks, good for fourth on the Fordham career blocks list.
