It was another two-win day for Fordham softball as the Rams take down Georgia State and Georgia Tech in the first day of the Springhill Suites Buckehead Classic. Fordham defeated Georgia State , 5-1, in the afternoon game then squeezed out their second upset victory of the season over No. 8/11 Georgia Tech in an eight-innings, 2-1 success in the night cap at Mewborn Field. Chris Gaston Named Sporting News Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year

Fordham University freshman forward Chris Gaston was named the 2010 Sporting News Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year it was announced this week. The accolade is the second Rookie of the Year honor for Gaston who was also named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year on March 7th. He becomes the third Ram to be named A-10 Rookie of the Year, joining Bevon Robin (1998) and Bryant Dunston (2005). [Full Story]

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday that the Fordham University men's and women's cross country teams earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2009 season. The men, with a team GPA of 3.39, are just one of five Atlantic 10 squads to receive the academic honor while the Fordham women, who boast a 3.21 team GPA, are one of six A-10 women's teams on the list.[Full Story]
