Howard Gargan was a former player and coach for the Fordham football team.

The team captain of the 1906 & 1907 squad, he coached the Rams the next two seasons in 1908 and 1909.  Over his two coaching season, the Rams were 30-5-3 against all opponents, 13-2-3 against colleges and universities.

He also oversaw the Rams' first three All-America selections in 1909 (Edward Barrett, Frank McCaffrey, and Jim McCarthy).
