Salvatore Chiaramonte was the first baseball player in Fordham's history to be named to the NCAA District 2 All-Star baseball team. This team was comprised of representatives from 66 colleges. This occurred in 1952, also the first year that Fordham's baseball team ever made the NCAA play-offs. While at Fordham, he was considered the best right-handed pitcher since Hank Borowy with a record of 18-5 over four years and a batting average of .300. He was also selected to the professional ranks by the Milwaukee Braves, New York Yankees, and the Detroit Tigers. |
