In his third year with the Fordham Sports Medicine Office is JR Barkamian. Barkamian is the primary athletic trainer for men's soccer, men's basketball, and men's tennis. Barkamian arrived at Rose Hill after serving as the head athletic trainer at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, where he was responsible for providing athletic training services to nine varsity teams. He also taught CPR/AED and First Aid to the Physical Education, Athletics and student-employee staff. In 2004-05, Barkamian served as an assistant athletic trainer at Siena College where he helped provide training services for 18 varsity teams, concentrating on the men's soccer and women's basketball teams. It was his second stint at Siena, having served as an athletic training intern in 2001-02. Barkamian received a Masters of Education-School Counseling from Niagara University in May of 2002. While at Niagara, he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years, working with the men's soccer, women's ice hockey, men's and women's swimming and diving teams. A 2001 graduate of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts with a Bachelor's degree in Biology/Sports Medicine, Barkamian was a student athletic trainer as an undergraduate, serving as the head student athletic trainer with the women's soccer and men's basketball programs. Barkamian is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA) as well as a New York State Licensed Athletic Trainer. He is also certified by the American Red Cross for CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer as well as being an American Red Cross Instructor for CPR/AED, Sports Safety & First Aid and Community First Aid. |
