Fordham Student-Athletes To Participate in 1st Bench for Charity Event,
Rep for Kids Sponsorship Sheet
April 23, 2012
Bronx, N.Y. - On Thursday, April 26th, a number of Fordham student-athletes will be participating in the 1st Bench for Charity event, "Reps for Kids", to benefit the Michael J. Armstrong Foundation, hosted at Fordham's Walsh Varsity Training Center.
The event is a chance for Fordham student-athletes to earn donations for each repetition they perform on the bench press. Every penny of the sponsor donation will be going to Michael J. Armstrong Foundation.
Michael J. Armstrong was a victim in the World Trade Center tragedy on September 11, 2001. His foundation awards scholarship grants to Loyola School and Fordham University, both of which Michael was a proud alum. Other beneficiaries include the Child Protection Center at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, the St. Barnabas Hospital Child Advocacy Center, and The New York City Fund for Public Schools, among many other local organizations in New York City. The donation will be tax deductible to the extent of the law.
The event will take place at the Walsh Varsity Training Center on the Rose Hill Campus this Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The goal for the event is to raise $5,000 for the foundation.
To sponsor a student-athlete, a group of student-athletes, a University team, or even make a special donation to the charity, please fill out the Rep for Kids Sponsorship Sheet and e-mail back to head strength & conditioning coach, Ted Perlak, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once the sponsor sheet is filled out and submitted, the sponsor will then get a video clip of the student-athlete performing their bench press reps at the event with an email containing the amount of money earned by the sponsored student athlete.
All checks should be mailed to:
Ted Perlak - Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
Please make all checks for reps earned and/or special donations to the "Michael J. Armstrong Foundation", with "reps for kids" in the memo section. We ask this to ensure that all proceeds go directly to the charity and the funds are deposited in a timely fashion.
