Historic Rose Hill had a new look for 2002-03. Over the summer in 2002, Fordham University devoted $2 million to renovate the beloved gym.
The first piece to the renovation was the installation of a new copper roof. Exterior windows were also replaced with new translucent windows allowing more natural light into the gym. Construction then moved inside where the demolition started with the removal of all the old radiators, side baskets and others objects that were attached to the rafters. The old storage closets were also removed to make way for new ones.
The project moved into the cleaning stages with the walls and beams getting a good cleaning before getting a new coat of paint.
Over the next two months the lighting system was replaced, as was the sound system, the scoreboards and the heating/ventilation system. New storage closets were also constructed.
The Rose Hill Gym reopened in late August 2002 to host the Rose Hill Classic Volleyball Tournament and was then shut down again as the bleachers were replaced with new ones.
