Fordham athletic teams have many facilities available to them, from the historical Rose Hill Gymnasium, to the newest structure, the Walsh Athletic Training Center.
The men's and women's basketball teams along with the volleyball squad, play in the Rose Hill Gym. The 3,200 seat gym opened on January 16, 1925 and was one of the largest on-campus facilities at the time it was built, earning the nickname "The Prairie" because of its large floor space. The arena has been in continuous use by Fordham's basketball teams since its opening with the exception of the World War II years, when it was used for a barracks. The Rose Hill Gym has been the site of many legendary college and high school basketball games including Kareem Abdul Jabbar's final high school game and the 1988 Tolentine-Archbishop Molloy Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) Championship game, billed by New York Newsday as the "Best High School Game of the '80s." The Rose Hill Gym continues to host the CHSAA Championships annually.
The football, men's soccer and women's soccer utilize Coffey Field, named in honor of long-time baseball coach and Athletic Director at Fordham, Jack Coffey. The baseball team now plays at Houlihan Park at Jack Coffey Field, a newly refurbished facility named in honor of Jim Houlihan (CBA '74) whose generous support will aid Fordham baseball in its efforts to establish and sustain a national recruiting program, provide additional resources for team travel and supplement equipment purchases that exceed the annual budget.
Murphy Field is the home site for Fordham's softball program as well as the intramural and club sports while the Lombardi Center Pool hosts the men's and women's swimming teams along with the water polo squad.
The newest athletic facility opened in 1996, the Walsh Athletic Training Center. The 3,200 square foot varsity athletic training facility is located under the stands of Jack Coffey Field and is supervised by Jason George, Fordham's varsity strength coach and the 1999-2000 Atlantic 10 Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year. The facility offers a new, state-of-the-art weight room, along with a classroom with seating for 30-35 people, and adequate space for free movement exercises to supplement the weight training.
